The Graduate Program “People with Dementia in Acute Care Hospitals“, which started on February 1, 2016, is funded by the Robert Bosch Foundation und runs over a five year period. The research program is managed jointly by Prof. Dr. Dr. h. c. Andreas Kruse, Prof. Dr. Dr. h. c. Konrad Beyreuther, Prof. Dr. Jürgen Bauer and Dr. Birgit Teichmann. The goal of this program is to examine innovative approaches to patient care delivery for people with dementia in acute care hospitals. New findings obtained in interdisciplinary studies shall be used subsequently to enhance quality of life for people with dementia during and after their hospital stay. The Graduate Program “People with Dementia in Acute Care Hospitals” is characterized by a high quality of research, practical relevance of patient-centered dissertation topics, and by a vibrant intellectual environment which includes multidisciplinary collaboration projects with various faculties and departments.

Goals and Objectives
- Provide support and qualification programs for scientifically trained personnel in order to enhance medical and nursing care practice and to improve teaching quality in the respective disciplines
- Incorporate existing knowledge into interdisciplinary research, thus improving awareness for dementia; develop strategies for improving health care delivery and treatments meeting the individual needs of people with dementia; implement new approaches

- Multidisciplinarity and collaboration projects with various faculties and departments
