Einstellungen von pflegenden Angehörigen zu Menschen mit Demenz
Demenzerkrankungen nehmen infolge der demographischen Alterung weltweit rasant zu. Ein Großteil der Betroffenen wird von Familienangehörigen gepflegt. Deren Einstellung gegenüber Menschen mit Demenz hat eine direkte Auswirkung auf die Qualität der Pflege sowie auf Entscheidungen wie Pflegeheimeinweisungen und Medikamentengabe. Einstellung bezeichnet in der Psychologie die aus der Erfahrung kommende Bereitschaft eines Individuums, in bestimmter Weise auf eine Person, eine Situation oder eine Vorstellung wertend zu reagieren, was sich im kognitiven (Annahmen und Überzeugungen), affektiven (Gefühle und Emotionen) und behavioralen (Verhaltensweisen) Bereich ausdrücken kann. Studien, die sowohl Eigenschaften der/des Pflegenden sowie des Menschen mit Demenz in Bezug auf die Einstellung untersuchen, sind kaum vorhanden.
Diagnostische Barrieren bei der Erkennung von Demenz bei Gehörlosen
Die Zahl der gehörlosen Menschen mit Demenz steigt vermutlich ähnlich wie die bei hörenden Menschen. Da Demenz bei gehörlosen Menschen aufgrund fehlender diagnostischer Möglichkeiten nicht erkannt wird, gibt es keine weltweiten Statistiken. Die Lesekompetenz von Gehörlosen entspricht etwa der von 9- bis 10-jährigen Kindern, wodurch der Zugang zu Gesundheitsinformationen stark eingeschränkt ist. Dis hat eine geringe Gesundheitskompetenz zur Folge. Der Zugang zum Gesundheitssystem ist aufgrund fehlender Kommunikationsmöglichkeiten schwierig, manchmal sogar unmöglich. Das fehlende Wissen um bestimmte Krankheitsbilder, gemeinsam mit Kommunikationsbarriere und dem Fehlen von diagnostischen Möglichkeiten für dazu, dass unsere gehörlosen Mitbürgerinnen und Mitbürger keine Gedächtnisambulanzen aufsuchen.
Daher verfolgen wir zwei Ziele: Zum einen soll das Bewusstsein für die Bedürfnisse gehörloser Menschen geschaffen werden und zum anderen diagnostische Tests in die Deutsche und Griechische Gebärdensprachen adaptiert und validiert werden.
