Prevention, Orientation and Training in nursing homes

Project description:
Lack of physical activity is one central cause for accelerated decline of motoric and cognitive capabilities in nursing home residents. Within the framework of the PROfit (‘prevention – orientation – training’) project a newly developed intervention programm is being evaluated. This program targets to increase physical activity among people living in nursing homes. Besides a well-established intensive training for muscular strenght and functionality a newly developed orientation training is an essential component. The aim of this innovative approach is to increase the residents’ mobility both inside and outiside the nursing home (enlargement of the life-space).
