Dementia-Specific early Rehabilitation in the Acute-Care Hospitals: Development of Therapy Options with a focus on Functional Interventions

The vulnerable phase, between the acute care after admission to the hospital and a possible transfer to a geriatric rehabilitation or discharge from the acute care hospital, is characterized by special risks (high postoperative complication rate, delirious development, drastic function and muscle loss, communication problems, restricted capacity / pain, etc.), which are particularly pronounced in the collective of dementia patients. Thus, elderly people with concomitant dementia during a hospital stay are particularly vulnerable to a severe deterioration in their functional status.

The aim of this dissertation project is therefore to develop therapeutic programs with a focus on functional interventions that are to be evaluated in a "real life scenario". Keywords: Physical training of acute patients with concomitant disease dementia.
